A few Sundays ago I decided to check out the Slow Food & Living Market, which is hosted in the inner courtyard of Rosewood Hotel in
Holborn. There are so many food markets all over London, but what sets this
market apart from others is that all of the produce is local, sustainable and
organic. There are a variety of stalls selling a whole host of
different products from meat and fish to bread, fruit, vegetables, tea, coffee,
chocolate and home wares.
Don’t expect to go and nibble your way around the market
though, as there’s not a whole lot of food ready for you to eat (my brother
made this mistake!).
All of the vendors were fabulous but my two favourites were
Inmidtown and Seaforth Chocolate Co.
Inmidtown
This honey is made from hives on London rooftops – some of
which are on the hotel of the Rosewood, which I personally think is so
unbelievably cool! Inmidtown were also selling salad leaves, which were also grown
on the rooftop – talk about local produce!
Seaforth Chocolate Co.
Seaforth Chocolate Co. get their cocoa beans from the Dominican Republic and they come over on a sailboat
into the Isle of Wight where the beans are processed into delicious chocolate –
my favourite flavour is the dark chocolate and almond. The packaging is so beautiful too!
The market is open every Sunday from 10.30am-3pm. It’s a short
walk from Holborn station and two of my favourite places – Holborn Grind and
Hubbard & Bell. Why not grab a spot of brunch after your visit? After all,
it’s what the weekend is made for!
