Roberta's, Brooklyn

Roberta's is the perfect example of why you should never judge a book by it's cover! It was recommended to us by several people and widely described as some of the best pizza in New York, so D and I chose to go there for our first dinner. 

We decided we didn't want to wait for an hour to eat in the dimly lit restaurant (there was a big queue and hanger is real), but luckily Roberta's also does takeout so we headed next door and ordered our pizzas to eat outside in the beer garden. The beer garden has a really relaxed vibe, the kind of place you could grab a table with a group of friends and happily spend an afternoon or evening eating, drinking and chatting. We got some bread and butter to start with our wine because obviously you should always start with bread when having a bread based main. What arrived was a huge hunk of warm sourdough with a ton of salty, creamy butter. I was of course ecstatic. 

After 30 minutes I went to check on our pizzas, which were ready – yay. I went for the Lil' Stinker (tomato, mozzarella, parmigiano, double garlic, onion and pepperoncini pepper), D has Cheesus Christ (taleggio, mozzarella, parmigiano, black pepper and cream.). We each switched a slice and for once I didn't have food envy, mine was so, so good! It was such a nice evening that sitting outside was actually preferable in my opinion – plus there are way more pizza options for take out too! you can find Roberta's here – if you're in NYC it's well worth the visit (and wait).
