Buttermilk Channel

I'm not a massive fan of queuing for restaurants, but I do appreciate that it's generally quite a good sign and this was one of those occasions.

Luckily we arrived quite early so were pretty close to the front of the queue, plus it was a beautiful sunny day so we were happy to wait amongst the locals who congregate outside before it opens. As soon as it does, everyone is seated almost immediately and the service is impressively fast (customer service in the UK has nothing on the States!). We both had roasted mushroom, spinach and goats cheese scramble, I subbed my toast for buttermilk biscuits and we also got house made pickles to share. Weekend brunch always calls for drinks, so D had the court street bloody mary and I had a bellini. The buttermilk biscuits were flakey, buttery and delicious and the pickles were honestly some of the best I've ever tasted! Unless you're sticking around for pudding or more drinks, they have you in and out pretty quickly, but that just gives you more time to explore the surrounding area of Carroll Gardens – and make sure you do, it's adorable.
