Travel Essentials

Travelling. For many people, myself included, long haul flights can be stressful. Early mornings, late nights, lack of sleep, lugging around luggage... It's just generally not conducive to a fun time, I've taken my fair share of flights now though, and whilst I'm no travel expert here's a little snoop into my hand luggage travel essentials. I promise they'll make your journey just that little bit easier.

Face spray
Flying can leave me feeling stressed and less than refreshed (that wasn't meant to rhyme, but anyway). A spritz of toner/ face always makes me feel way better and leaves my skin feeling refreshed and moisturised. This is my favourite –  I use it under and over makeup and as a toner after cleansing, it's so versatile, lasts forever and is 100ml so means you take it in your hand luggage.

I always make sure I have a ton of snacks with me, there's nothing worse than being hungry (read hangry) and either not being able to find anything I want to eat, or any food at all. So many airports are full of foods that have barely any nutritional value that leave me feeling gross. My favourite carry on snacks are fresh fruit and veg, boiled eggs (I know, I'm that person) and energy balls/ bars. (check out my PB&J energy balls here!). Also, if I'm doing long haul, I always pre order the vegan meal. It's much lighter than the regular meal, they usually give you fresh fruit/veg AND you get your food first – win/win.

As soon as I'm through security I buy two 1 litre bottles of water. Hydration is key and constantly asking the air hostesses for thimble sized glasses of water is not my idea of fun.

We all know how much plane AC dries your skin out, keeping hydrated definitely helps but adding a moisturiser too is also great. I also just like to make sure I wash and moisturise my face too even when travelling as it keeps me feeling a bit more human and a bit less gross. This is my current favourite.

Echinacea + vitamin C
In the past I would often find I'd get a cold a few days after flying. I now take plenty of echinacea in water and vitamin c and I find this really helps to keep me from getting ill.

Big scarf
One of my biggest travel essentials! I always take a huge scarf with me to use as an extra blanket/ pillow.

Eye mask
I'm one of those people who loves to sleep in pitch black so this is a must. The silkier the better.

Thick socks
I don't really know what the deal is with planes being freezing, but these help me get snuggly and keep me warm.

Slip on shoes
My favourites are obviously my slip on vans, but birkenstocks are also great.

Align pants
If I could live in my Lululemon align pants forever and always I would. They're pretty much perfect for any situation but they are the dream travel pants, super soft, stretchy, breathable...
